Firmamentum

Commissioned by the Festival of Dangerous Ideas, entitled 'End of the World', and installed at the Sydney Opera House in August 2014. Firmamentum was designed by Ivor Williams and Jonathan Chomko as an immersive experience that invited visitors to use their breath to travel through an 3-dimensional environment. Using Oculus Rift, Unity and Kinect technology, the visitors to the Festival would breach the metaphysical firmament of observable existence, to ‘see’ the other side and return. Using computer vision to create a representation of themselves in space, virtual reality to allow them exit and observe their own body and explore a unique environment, they would move from particle to wave state and understand there is no way for them - or their world - to ever truly end.
